The Wreck of the Albatross
The wreck of the Albatross lays 12 km (40 minute boat ride) dead east from South Padre Island. Her keel is in 105 feet of water with the top deck at 80 feet. She went down overloaded with deck machinery and a freezer with 10,0000 pounds of shrimp onboard. She holds both large game fish as well as a variety of turtles and rays. Brass portholes are left on board for photo opportunities.
